Stray Pictures

From the top:

Robert and James are celebrating their 50th anniversary today. Before it was even fashionable they had a commitment ceremony in Cleveland in 1958. Robert is 87 and James 72. In the past couple of years Robert has had a hip replacement and a knee replacement along with battling prostate cancer. Today he is fighting kidney cancer and as he promised, 'In sickness and health' James is right there beside him fighting along! (Talk about Al Pacino's high hair in his latest movie--I certainly used the blow dryer on mine back in those days!! LOL)

The next picture is just a reminder that Alfredo and Mike will be seeing MY show tonight celebrating Alfredo's birthday a couple of weeks earlier.

The bottom picture is a reminder that the fight for a cure for AIDS is far from over. This picture was taken in 1983, in the Village on Christopher Street, when Larry Kramer and others started the GMHC to get funding for people with AIDS. Whenever I was in NYC I would help out when and where I could.
Next Sunday, the 20th, there will be a WALK FOR AIDS here in Fort Lauderdale and tomorrow Dale and David will be walking for AIDS in Hawaii.

50 is Nifty! Wow, what an awesome accomplishment to celebrate! That much love and devotion should not go unrecognized! Oh, by the way, nice pics!

Nice mustache... We'll be celebrating our fiftieth in 8 years... hope you'll write a piece for us then. Really nice photos -- it all looks as if it was somehow easier and more pleasant back then... silly idea but nostalgia grips me from time to time.

wow...50 years. I really admire commitment like that... sticking together under what must have been less than ideal conditions at times. They get a big ol' bugg two antennas up and a hearty congrats.

I love hearing stories like this one. It's special not only because these two men are celebrating 50 years together, but that they haven't let society separate them. They must be pretty special men! Thanks for sharing.
