Never Argue Religion And/or Politics.

Mother always said, "Never argue politics and/or religion." but whoever listens to mother?? Well, I have decided after 60+ years to follow her advice as I have found people are very closed minded regrading both. It seems their religion is the only religion and their political party is the only one that does everything right and knows what to do.

I suppose I would be classified as an agnostic and a libertarian so I get bashed by all sides. :O) And knowing very little about politics and/or religion I really don't have strong arguments but rely on feelings when it comes to both.

The one thing I will continue to fight/argue against is homophobia whether it be dressed in politics or religious clothing because one thing I have a tremendous knowledge about is homosexuality and as I recently said to another blogger, "I am not a practicing homosexual--I AM ONE." I stopped 'practicing' years ago and am an expert, very proficient, at being a homosexual. It makes no difference whether I was born one or became one because I am very happy being gay and have led a good life as a gay man.

I will not tolerate bashing/abusing verbally or physically of any homosexual and that includes making laws that put us less than equal or keeping laws on the books that do the same.

Now if only someone will tell me what the 'gay agenda' and/or 'gay lifestyle' is I might become a perfect homosexual! LOL

So, Mom, no more arguing politics or religion.

"Gay Agenda"-Is that what "they" say "we" are trying to do by "destroying" everything "they" hold dear and what this country was built on by "us" wanting to have the same "equal and fair rights" that EVERYBODY should have, regardless of race, creed, etc., etc., etc., as if "we" don't hold anything dear enough that "we" want to enjoy the same entitlements? Is that the "Gay Agenda" that you mean?

"Gay Lifestyle"-is that what "they" say about the normal lives, dreams, emotions, pursuits, problems, accomplishments, beliefs, feelings, interests, diversities, etc., etc., etc., that "we" DO like every other living soul on this earth, but "they" say is different? Is that the "Gay Lifestyle" that you mean?

"Arguing Politics and Religion"-is what I have decided to avoid a long time ago, however I am willing to DISCUSS both, to CONSIDER both, and to have MY OWN OPINIONS on both, to DEFEND my right to my opinions on both, but to NEVER ARGUE on or about either.

"Listening to Mother"-I do listen to my mother, who has spoken these words to me for as long as I can remember, "Listen to what others have to say so as to learn, but be who you really are, speak what you believe, and do what you have to do. Weigh all from others and from yourself to build from so you become the person that YOU can live with and can trust." This is why I can still listen to my mother.

You know my "religion" is very complex because I'm a Messianic Jew. That's a Jew whose excepted Yeshua as Messiah, but I keep the feasts and shabbat. I love all that and wouldn't miss my Friday night meals for anything. Especially Passover dinner. You should have been here Martin, I did a great job. I was so proud of myself. Anyway, politically I'm wishy washy and can't care about either side very much. Never argue politics with anyone and no one really understands my religion so who gives a rip. I'll keep it to myself. As for you, you're just a fun person who can write or talk about anything and the fact that you are gay is just part of you. Personally, I wouldn't care if you only loved purple people, I'd still like you. Actually, I might even like you more. I love purple.

Totally agree with your mother! I have read some pretty crazy stuff on here and other blog sites about both religion and politics, I stay out of both! It is difficult at times but I am getting better at realizing you can not change anyones minds. I just wish people would actually think a little bit about what they are thinking about. In my opinion you should not inherit your religion, but actually seek out your own truth. Congrats to you fighting the good fight against those bigots that hide behind their religion and politics. Hate is hate no matter how you dress it up.
