and as soon as they were ready to leave their mother she gave me a brother and sister whom I named Leader and Spitfire. They joined the first 2 budgies, actually the first 2 birds I ever bought, Butch and Sky. In the past year both Leader and Sky died. In December I tried to mate Butch and Spitfire but nothing happened in the past four months so I decided to take away the nest yesterday. I really don't think it had anything to do with Spitefire's death but I found her today on the bottom of the cage not moving or breathing.
I buried her outside near Leader and Sky and hopefully all 3 will connect up again over the Rainbow bridge.
Now I am second guessing myself--I thoroughly scrubbed, cleaned and washed off their cage and decided to do something I had been thinking of doing for awhile and that was putting the tiels in the big cage. I moved Butch to the smaller cage, hoping, in a way, it would distract him and he would be too busy getting use to his new home and forget that Spitefire isn't around anymore. Of course I don't know what he will do when I let him out of the cage--won't do that for a day or two--will he fly back to HIS cage??
Funny how much you can miss a little creature.
