Animated films have become so lifelike that you just know that cat had to audition for his or her role . I
am constantly amazed just looking at what Dreamworks, Pixar and Disney
alone have come to from the days of "Steamboat Willie" with Mickey
Mouse!
Starting
with Antonio Banderas, who has never sounded so smooth, silky and sexy
to Selma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton, Amy Sedaris and
the rest of the supporting cast the enthusiasm and fun just come pouring
out from the screen. The dance challange between Kitty Softpaws (Hayek) and Puss (Banderas) puts any couple on "Dancing With The Stars" to shame!
"Puss
In Boots" is a spin off from "Shrek" andstands on its own with all new
characters. The storyline involving Jack and Jill (Thortion and
Sedaris), Humpty Dumpty (Galifianakis) plus Mother Goose, the magic
beans and bean stalk of Jack without the latter not to forget the goose
who lays the golden eggs are used for swordplay, chases, funny and sharp
quips, along with film noir in beautiful color.
Puss
may walk upright like a man but he still uses his tongue to drink his
milk while even though Kitty walks, looks, talks, dances and acts sexy
she still cleans her paws like all our pet cats do. Humpty Dumpty is an
egg and he won't let you forget it though you will because the human
characters aren't as 'real' as all the animals are.
The
musical score, by Henry Jackman, is lively while the dance choreography
by Laura Gorenstein Miller, not to forget the cats playing in the band,
provide the moves and the fun certainly putting a smile on the faces of
the children and adults in the audience. All the production aspects are
top drawer.
Puss
has gotten a starring picture of his own, deservedly, and there are
sure to be a few sequels. "Puss In Boots" is entertainment from
beginning to end.
