Odds and Various Ends

It's
all over--due to Jill's generosity I have experienced freedom by her
lending me her car for a few months--even if I didn't want to go
anywhere or had anywhere to go just having a car IF I wanted to go
was/is a great feeling--now that is all over--I am a prisoner until Allen comes over on Wednesdays
--I am so happy/lucky to have friends! (Maybe I should add a car--including insurance--to my birthday list--oh yes, I make one--why get something I don't want ???)

It
finally happened--the last avocado fell from the tree --and, by
accident, I saw it falling as I was sitting at my table--I am surprised
it didn't smash into pieces as it fell from the equivalent of a building 3 stories high--it had was a dent.

And there was a bird in the tree just before the avocado fell!

I
need to get a better camera--hint: my birthday is in 4 months--there is
a bird in each tree--I watched them for about an hour--fascinating.

People
say we don't have 'seasons' in South Florida--well this is one of the
pictures that dispute that theory as you can see--the leaves are
changing color!

This
is my next to last cover for the Gazette--it is of the maintenance and
security staff--I sent in my resignation to be effective after December
issue.

Remember
when Bill was the young kid on the block?  Lady GaGa gave him a Marilyn
Monroe Jack Kennedy "Happy Birthday" at his 65th birthday party. And
President
Clinton said, “I am the only former President to have a 65th birthday
attended by both Lady Gaga and the Secretary of State!” See all the
performer's pictures at

Steven Sondheim   Andrew Lloyd Webber  Jerry Herman

The
3 top money making composers of Broadway musicals--possibly, aside from
the Beatles, their music is played more often,  make more money and are
recorded by more musicians than anyone else in the world--you may think
you don't know their music/songs but you do--from Sondheim's "Send In
The Clowns" to Webber's "Music Of The Night" from "Phantom of the Opera"
to Herman's "Hello Dolly" and "Mame". It is said of Sondheim that he
changed the course of Broadway music while Webber was responsible for
the British invasion of spectacular musicals and Herman was one of the
few composers to have 4  hits on Broadway at the same time with best
selling songs. Check them out on

My investment club fell apart when no one wanted to take over as treasurer. I had already spent three years doing that and had just finished three as secretary. I still felt guilty for not stepping up. But I thought someone else should take a turn.

I honestly won't feel guilty--immodestly I did the best job and put out the best issues of the Gazette--I didn't ask for anything, not even a thank you, but a lot of people complimented me on it--I won't get into playing politics especially when it is a volunteer position.

I was surprised you were quitting the newsletter also.

So am I because I like/liked doing it but as I told them unless 'games' stopped I'm not interested--it became a 'job'

Are the pictured "3 Musketeers" all gay? Surprised you're quitting you "job" so soon. Understandable, however (on reading your comments to Ms. Trout). By the way, you are shameless (birthday requests)!!

Webber isn't.

I have a birthday once every 4 years--I certainly don't need useless gifts, dust collectors, at my age so, being the nice guy I am I make a list of items I NEED and/or WANT--from inexpensive to expensive to gift cards to movie theatres or restaurants--very convenient for those who want to get me a gift--see how nice I am????

How come you're quitting the newsletter? Will you miss it? If I had an extra car and insurance I would give it to you.

As much as I loved doing it, it became a job and I was sort of put in an awkward spot regarding a new person on staff--give you an example of the 'politics' I left behind when I retired--the Administrator said that if she couldn't find another volunteer they would have to stop printing it--300 residents, 5 office staff plus a new chaplain/activities director and I'm suppose to feel--what? Guilty? Bad?--that if I quit it would go under?
