Movies Have Always Been a Part of My Life Part 3

There are a generation of seniors who, when they are outside
and it is raining, picture themselves as Gene Kelly dancing and singing
with a big umbrella, swinging around a lamppost. They are the same ones
who many years ago walked out of a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie
picturing themselves as one or the other.  When in a pool they were
Esther Williams and when it was snowing they were Sonia Heine
. We fell in love with Cyd Charisse's never
ending legs and Rita Hayworth's cascading long red hair. We were Donald
O'Connor jumping over sofas or through doors. Whether we could carry a
note or not, dance a step or trip on our own feet, the old Hollywood
musicals made us all dancing, singing fools/stars if only in our head!

And so many more!

I just finished reading "Michelangelo and The Pope, which chronicles the life of Michelangelo as well as the Pope's life during the time that the Sistine Chapel was being frescoed. The life of a Pope in the Middle Ages was a far cry from today!!

I remember reading a book about Michelangelo by Irving Wallace--fiction of course--and seeing the movie starring Charleton Heston---that was one of the influences of movies on me--I started to go to museums seriously then.

Wait! You haven't seen me dance and sing like Gene Kelley--and you don't want to!

I think it is so great how much you have made movies a part of your life. I used to make more time for them when I was in college. I don't really seem to have the time to get to the theater now, though, I usually get a ton of movies to watch through work.

Since my nagging you to get friends to come over and failing now I will start a campaign for you and Ray to GO OUT and see a movie--have a 'date night' at least once a week--got to keep you old married couples young one way or another!
