Every
song has a story :o) In 1959 Kitty Kallen had a hit song call "Little
Things Mean A Lot"--I was 23--I was in love--the song became a mantra
for me and though 3 out of 4 of my exes were great with the grand
gestures the last, who meant the most to me, was horrible with 'little
things'--I became a big believer in the small gestures and carried
through with all my relationships whether friend or lover--I'm the
guy/friend who will never forget your birthday, who will send you an
anniversary card citing the day we met, will remember your favorite
flower, will take you out for dinner just to say thanks for being my
friend,
etc.
I have found most people don't remember to do the
little things for and/or to others--did you do something 'little' today
for someone that made them feel better or know that they are
appreciated in everyday life?
This is the time of the year for grand gestures and gifts--nothing wrong with either--but don't forget the little things that are just as important!
Little Things Mean a Lot
Words & Music by Edith Lindeman and Carl Stutz
Blow me a kiss from across the room,
say I look nice when I'm not.
Touch my hair as you pass my chair,
little things mean a lot.
Give me your arm as we cross the street,
call me at six on the dot.
A line a day when you're far away,
little things mean a lot.
Don't have to buy me diamonds or pearls,
champagne, sables, and such.
I never cared much for diamonds and pearls
'cause honestly, honey, they just cost money.
Give me a hand when I've lost the way,
give me your shoulder to cry on.
Whether the day is bright or gray,
give me your heart to rely on.
Send me the warmth of a secret smile
To show me you haven't forgot
For now and forever, that's always and ever
Honey, little things mean a lot.
