They are starting a
new experiment after having been tried out in Miami--the rental of
bikes. I did see a family of 5 on them the other day and I had a feeling
they were tourists. They seem to have plenty of places to get them and
return them but, sadly, the nearest one is the same problem I have with
access to buses--too far for me to walk plus if I could walk that far I
would take the bus!
They
have an annual pass for $45 a year and the first 30 minutes of every
ride is free--otherwise they have a one time $5 fee which provides 24
hour access to check out bikes multiple times but you pay 50 cents for
first 30 minutes and every additional 30 minutes cost $3. That sounds
pretty steep. I am waiting for another transportation experiment--not
sure where they are testing it--which allows you to rent a car for $9 an
hour including gas and insurance--when, and if, it comes to Fort Lauderdale I have to hope it is within walking distance. Between P.A.D., Plantar Faciitis and tendinitis taint easy getting to these places.

Looks like I have some competition from other critics regarding Christopher Sieber--they, too, were bowled over by his performance!
Critic #1:
"This production also features the unforgettable performance of Christopher Sieber as the flamboyant drag queen star Albin/Zaza.
Mr.
Sieber had us in the palm of his hand about a third of the way through
“A Little More Mascara.” He never let go. A larger than life performer,
Mr. Sieber is physically big and he used this to great avail in bringing
us the funniest Albin we have ever seen."
Critic #2
"...to hear Sieber — dressed in glamorous drag as Zaza but singing as the deeply wounded, fierce Albin — perform I Am What I Am is genuinely transcendent theater.
The Broadway veteran is wondrous throughout La Cage , anchoring the show’s humor and touching truths. He is always commanding (even when he’s done up like Marilyn Monroe in The Seven-Year Itch ), and his inventive choices in a role so many others have played make him fascinating to watch, start to finish"
But I gave him a better review!!! (And, no, I AM NOT STALKING HIM no matter what Chuck says or thinks!!!)
At every show in the Broward Performing Arts Center they have a
set up where you can have your picture taken with a prop from the
show--nothing against George Hamilton but I would have preferred to have
Sieber, even if he was cardboard!

Between "La Cage", "Rock of Ages", St. Tropez Bistro, Leisure Times Theatre, going to Gamaroff's,
normal weekly errands and having Allen's car I have had a pretty busy
week but it all comes to an end today! The 2012-2013 theatre season
doesn't start until October 9--and guess what? The first show is "Rock
of Ages"!!! There are still Friday movies and new places plus good old
places to eat so summer shouldn't be too bad!
Oh did I mention Allen came home today and I don't have a car anymore?
