It Feels Good to Give a Gift!

We were sitting in the breezeway talking about this and that when one of the women mentioned that she had bought a bird cage at Pier One and was thinking of getting a bird and we started talking about my birds--I told her to bring the cage down and I would take it home, set it up with everything and would give her a couple of my finches--at first I was going to make it a male and female but knowing how often and how fast they mate I decided two males to start to give her experience first and then if she wants to breed them I would give her a female.
She brought the cage down and I knew right away that it was a 'show' cage not a practical cage for a bird or birds--it was made of wood, painted white with the paint peeling off--this is dangerous for birds mainly the larger, bigger birds and birds like budgies andtiels that chew things--it also has bars going in only one direction so it is hard to hand toys--also the usual seed and water cups won't fit--BUT with all this I felt I could make it workable so I took the cage home this evening and started working on it,
Hopefully I will have it all set up WITH the birds so I can present it to her on the breezeway tomorrow evening with all that she will need for the first month.
It really does feel good to give a present on the spur of the movement!!
The 'impractable, showy, wood made cage' that I am trying to make practicable!
