The Doctor is In!

After a really bad night last night and a stress filled day--the
latter to the point that I had to walk out of my ophthalmologist office as I
felt claustrophobic! I have been extremely tired and sleepy today but am unable
to sleep.

Since I am a doctor--hey, my initials
are MD  G--I decided to do some research on  all the medicines I am
taken--trust me when I tell you that's
scary!!! I have a  book, "The Pill Book" which has over 1,200 pill descriptions,
side effects, cautions, warnings, etc. I lined up my ten bottles of pills and
started to look them up and read all the good and bad. It was when I got to
Bupropion that I said
"AHA!!"

I have  taken this pill since the operation and just this week
my doctor increased the subscription from 150mg to 300mg. Now I have faith in my
doctor and I feel he is doing what he can to relieve my anxiety and get sleep
and under normal circumstances I wouldn't eliminate any medicine without talking
to him first but I am.

Just to quote: "---is usually used for
severe or major depression.  Bupropion may work as a smoking deterrent." (I assume that's why he prescribed it for me,
not because of the former.) In any case when I came to 'warnings & cautions
I read this: "MANY PEOPLE TAKING BUPROPION EXPERIENCE SOME
RESTLESSNESS, AGITATION, ANXIETY,
AND SLEEPLESSNESS.
SOME EVEN REQUIRE SLEEPING PILLS TO
COUNTER THIS EFFECT."

I plan to skip that and the klorcon and furosemide tomorrow--and the day after the
avodart and flomax--and why I am all of a sudden taking
a beta blocker (metoprolol) I have no
idea but it all depends how I feel tomorrow AFTER eliminating the Bupropron.

I do have an appointment with my primary on Monday the 15th and will see what he says about my
playing doctor--I have an idea but I want one day of the old Martin. I did fine
for 8 years with just taking Warfarin, Simvastatin and digoxin--I understand the need for the lorazepam but why take a diuretic (furosemide) and then flomax to lessen the flow?!?!? And because I
am taking the diuretic I have to take the potassium.

I really think eliminating the bupropion will change how I
feel!!!

Martin PLEASE check with your doctor!!!! Tell him what is happening with the 1st med. Both the beta blocker and diuretic are for blood pressure. Just don't discontinue something without professional advice. You're scaring me!!

You need to talk with your Dr. before you start stopping meds. Stopping them could cause other problems. Be careful *hugs*

There is a good chance that you are right. This is one of the reasons why I always research my meds. I think they can be so helpful, but it is important to know potential side effects that might be problematic.

Most heart patient after surgery goes on the Metoprolol.

This is for the heart and blood pressure.Very common.
I take this 50 mg.1/2 in the morning and afternoon.
Have a half of banana for your potassium.
Diuretic is to get rid of the fluid and also help you on
your blood pressure.
Sounds like to me some of the medication should be helping there.
The rest I am not familiar with it.They have to put all these
side effect down on paper. So that they will not get in any
problems with the doctors or patients.

Things will improved as day goes on.
Trying to be helpful of some sort.
Talk to you later
