Poll:
Most Florida voters support gay marriage ban amendment, but not enough
for passage (Not yet anyway! Remember Florida doesn't allow gay
adoptions! :O(

TALLAHASSEE -- A
majority of Florida voters, but not enough to win passage, support a
constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, according to a poll
released this morning.

The
Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University poll shows that Florida voters
support the measure by a margin of 55 percent to 41 percent, shy of the
60 percent supermajority required for passage on Nov. 4.

The
support is slightly lower than the 58-37 showing by the same poll on
June 3. Partisan voters are sharply split, with Republicans supporting
the measure 76-21 percent and Democrats opposing it, 51 percent to 45
percent.

"The 55 percent level of support for the same-sex
marriage ban is a bit surprising given that similar amendments have
passed in a dozen states," said Quinnipiac assistant director Peter
Brown. "But backers have eight weeks to close that five-point gap by
changing some minds and winning over the undecided voters."

The
same poll also showed Gov. Charlie Crist's popularity still riding
high, with a 61 percent job approval. That's a decline from the 70
percent Crist had at the beginning of his administration.

Quinnipiac surveyed 1,427 Florida voters from Sept. 2-4. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.

when oh when will people learn to live and let live? We need to get the gub'ment out of our bedrooms. I hope this idiotic amendment doesn't pass. One would think that lawmakers would have more pressing issues to address(like illegal immigration for one thing) in Florida.

Well, I guess it could be worse. It can't pass at least.
