Up to Date Health Report!

This has been a week of ups and downs--between
anxiety attacks, lack of sleep and loss of appetite I wouldn't rate
this as one of my better weeks.

I
went to see my primary doctor and told him I was most concerned about
the anxiety and lack of sleep--he changed two of my medicines--I am no
longer taking xanax--he substituted lorazepam
and I must admit I slept like a log last night and when I started
feeling anxiety coming over me today I took another one and it worked
BUT it seems to wear off faster than xanax.

For a guy who didn't even like taking n
aspirin I am certainly taking a lot of pills these days and really
don't understand why--like I am taking flomax to stop a constant
urination problem and I am taking a diuretic because I am retaining
fluids!!!

In any case here are the pills I am taking these days--and I really want to cut back on them!!!
Digoxin  250 mcg tablet lnt  1 a day
Warfarin sodium 5 mg tablet brr  1 a day
Bupropion  hcl xl 300 mg tabanc  1 a day
Klor con  10 meq tablet ups  1 a day
Furosemide  20 mg  tablet ivx   1 a  day
Metoprolol succ er 25 mg taeth  1/2 a tablet a day
Avodart  0.5 mg softgel  gsk  1 a day
Flomax  0.4 mg capsulesa b-1  1 a day
Simvastatin  40 mg  tablet derl  1 a day
Lorazepam  0.5  mg tablet ran  1-2 a day as needed
Plus for many years I have taken:
Jenasol multivitamin 1 a day
Vitamin C 500 mg  1 a day
Folic Acid 800 mcg  1 a day
I am not happy popping 14 pills a day--next appointment I have with my primary is September 15 and I want to go over the list with him and see what we can eliminate if anything!

You slept! That's a good and important improvement. Anxiety can be controlled and helped, but it takes a little "experimenting" with different meds sometimes to get it right. Did you ever think that SOME of the anxiety may actually be BODY/PHYSICAL withdrawals from smoking? I remember anxiety attacks and hyperventilating (or feelings that I could start hyperventilating) when I quit smoking...and some of it came months after I had quit!

If that picture is from now, you look great, martin. Keep it up. I want to see you make a full recovery. Hopefully by the way, Ike will miss So. Fla.

I take some of the same stuff you do (Digoxin, Warfarin, Florisimide) in addition to Cardizem(an additional heart drug), Zocor for my "borderline" cholesterol, and Darvocet and/or Vicoden for joint pain. I also take Vitamin C only I take 2000mg per day. I don't care what they say, it keeps me from getting colds and when I do get one, its not so servere. My colds often turn into raging bronchitis so I need to make sure I avoid them if possible. I find it bizzare that they gave you a pill to make you pee then another one to stop you from peeing. If anything ever happened to the two of us, Marty, the entire drug industry would go bankrupt

Ohhhhh.... Martin.... I am soooo excited that you happened to write this blog about your Xanax. I've been on that stuff for 20 years, but lately, I've been having problems sleeping. I blamed it onto coming off the pain medications from my back surgery. But, all of the other withdrawel symptoms have ceased, but I'm still not sleeping. Maybe, I need to take another look at the Xanax component. That just could be the problem. Again... thanks for this blog. I'll let you know what I find out from the doctor. ((((hugs)))) Anniel

You will definitely improve. It is really a tough thing you have gone through. Your body will recover.
