How Much Did My 9 Cents Cost the Company?

A
couple of months ago I overpaid my credit card by 9 cents. I got my
bill yesterday and I saw the credit had turned into a debit and my
balance was zero. Curiosity more than anything else made me call the
credit card company and ask what happened to MY 9 cents. (Hey, I'm sick
and have time on my hands!) I know you will believe me when I tell you
that I spent a minimum of 45 minutes on the phone first with 'account
executives' and then 2 managers.

I
was told that since I didn't call them and ask for the 9 cents they
donated the money to charity after a certain period of time! Well I
questioned them back and forth about that statement until I was turned
over to the first 'manager' who told me that the previous manager was
wrong, that they had sent me a check for the 9 cents! After finding out
the date the check was sent and that I hadn't gotten it he turned me
over---get this--the VP of phone accounts!!! It was decided that she
would put a hold on the check that was sent and would send me another
one and that I should give 2-3 weeks to arrive. When I asked why it
couldn't just be put back on the account as a credit and I would use the
card during the holidays I was met with silence!

Now
I have no idea the salaries of the people involved---yes, I think they
were all overseas--but 45 minutes on the phone, 3 employees, a hold on a
check, issuing another check--ALL FOR 9 CENTS!!!--had to cost a lot of
money!!! Sorry, folks, but somehow I have a feeling you'll be paying for
that 9 cents!

I
LOVE THIS!!! They are putting new roofs on our buildings--one of the
workmen left this 'peacock' (roofing materials) to keep us
entertained!!!

For
those who laugh at me--hello Chuck--here is the new camera I got free
and the first pictures I took with them--the camera (with my old
camera)--my dining room table--me--Allen and our waiter at the ROK
BURGER. How did I get it free, you ask? Easy! Every time I watch Wheel
of Fortune I go to the site and enter the bonus puzzle answer and get 10
credits. Up until recently they gave more credits for Jeopardy but they
eliminated that--and after you get enough credits all you do is pick
your gift--it was that simple.

It is a lot thinner than it looks--fits into my pocket with no problem.

Tuesday is the day we go see "Shrek--The Musical" tour company opening in Miami!

Free is so good! I do on-line surveys that pay with points. I usually cash my points in for gift cards at Panera. When I use them, it is like found money.

I do the same thing at mypoints.com--takes a few seconds a day and I get all kinds of free gift cards with points

Congrats on 'winning' the camera, Martin. It's so nice when they are so easy to carry. That's strange about the 9 cents, can't wait until you finally get it and it's in the bank.

Wonder if the bank will charge me a fee for checking a 9 cents check?!?!?!?

Amazing what a conundrum 9 cents can cause. I'm sure the banks have people employed to sit in some dark office somewhere to come up with more and more ways to hit your bank account for more fees and charges and what to do with any "excess" payments made in error. I cant see the pics (just little boxes with a red x inside as usual) so I might have to dash across to blogster with my free proxy server to check them out.
