HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TERRY & THEWRITER
********************************************************************
Figures vary as to how many restaurants there are in the Fort Lauderdale area and as to how many open and close each year. The one figure I have
heard is that there are 4,500 restaurants open and that over 2,000
close each years while 2,500 new ones open. I LOVE eating out and would
go to a new restaurant every day if I could afford it, but
I can't. I have written reviews about 70 restaurants in the past year
and a half. I, usually, eat out on Wednesdays and Fridays but as soon as
I win the lotto (not if!) I will eat out at least 15 meals a week and
will probably have my chef make the rest.
I do have a few favorite restaurants that IF thewriter and Terry were here I would take them out to eat at one of them for
their birthday but, as a rule, I have stopped eating in these places
because their prices are too high for my pocket.
One
of my all time favorites is The Ark where I celebrated my 16th Leap
Year Birthday and where I might also celebrate my 19th next year but
more about that the closer we get to February 29, 2012.
Thewriter wrote about going to a Brazilian restaurant last night and I recalled going to Chima with Allen a couple of years ago. While very good, and the food was plentiful, it was expensive going for $75 per person.
Finding a few reasonably priced restaurants with good food is rare so when I find one I have a tendency to go back
there. Whenever I go out Allen's way we always go to Cheddar's and on
Fridays, after the movies, it is either the Quarterdeck or Duffy's.
Recently returned to the Outback and Chuck's, both steakhouses, and when we want something light and fast we will go to either IHOP or Denny's. On Wednesdays we usually try a new restaurant.
Of
all the restaurants we have tried through restaurant.com the only one
we really liked and have gone back to is Nana's Stromboli and I
discovered Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop which I introduced Allen,
Arnie and John to and will plan to go again.
And if the guys were here I would take them to YoMama's and/or Kilwin's and/or Cold Stone Creamery to have a little birthday ice cream!
