Possibly
because I have a birthday once every four years being a Leap Year Baby
born on February 29th I always make a big deal of my birthday as well
as of my friends. Allen's birthday was on the 18th and since he was out
of town I thought we would celebrate it today by my taking him to a
first rate restaurant on the beach for lunch. We were going to Trina's
in the new Atlantic Hotel and Spa.
Trina's Restaurant & Lounge, the perfect oceanfront setting, an award-winning,
high-design hot spot where Our Award-Winning Executive Chef showcases authentic
and inspired World-Fusion cuisine. Trina was named the "Best Restaurant with an
Ocean View" in the April 2009 issue of Ft. Lauderdale Magazine.
Turned out that Trina's was closed for lunch but a restaurant on the 5th floor was open. We went up there but it was just an open air pool snack place and anyone who lives in South Florida knows better than to sit out in the afternoon sun, (we leave that for the mad Englishmen LOL), so we left.
One of the places that Allen likes, Lulu's Bait Shack, that I have written
about before was a few blocks down and so we decided to go there. Allen
had the fish and chips while I had the Cajun sampler consisting of etoufee, jambalaya, red beans and rice and shrimp gumbo which was as good as ever. Oh, we split a bowl of ice cream.
I
had Allen take a picture of me but I think he was more interested in
the tourist guys behind me--that's okay--we were celebrating his
birthday!
Some day we will get to go to Trina's--probably during 'season'.
