"Besame Mucho" playing in the background, an Italian waiter and coffee
'is only $1.75' is what's good about 33rd & Dine, a French Cafe, and
what stops it from being 5 stars. Oh yes and the food.
First off
Angelo, the Italian waiter, gave us excellent service, and the owner was
a class helper. They worked together as a team. We came in around 2 PM
and there were 2 parties sitting outside and 2 inside. Within a few
minutes, including us, there were 8 parties and all had excellent
service.
It's funny to be surprised and laugh at that 'only $1.75 for
coffee and diet soda each" but compared to other restaurants that is
almost half the price charged and certainly more reasonable.
As soon
as we sat down the owner brought us some good sliced bread with packages
of butter on the side. I had to wait for my coffee because they were
making a fresh pot, which was okay with me.
Allen had the scallop
crepe ($16.95) which he said was very good. I had the sausage and Swiss
cheese crepe ($13.95) which was on the dry side and could have used a
monkey dish of ratatouille sauce.
With tip the lunch check came to
$44.09 and minus the Groupon we had altogether it cost us $22 which made
lunch a little more reasonable.
I was impressed actually seeing a working boss and it certainly helps the server and customer.
Just
a suggestion--do the server a favor by leaving the tip in cash--if you
need to know the reason you have never been a server and just e-mail me
and I'll tell you why!

We skipped the French pastries and went to the Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream.
