Seeing Red

I just basically lost control here at home.

The last of our 3 laptop chargers is broken and to get a new one is like $40 or $50 which is why we've been sharing one rather than getting new ones.

Because of this, I was ticked and told Marissa to get off my computer. Being her new "teenage self" she argued with me, whined and just sat here in the chair at my desktop computer. This is when I couldn't take it anymore. I pinched her neck, told her to get up and go to her room. It is probably the 4th time in her almost 13 years that she has made me that mad with so much disrespect.

*As most of you know, I deal with enough disrespect at work and should not have to deal with it in my home.

And speaking of work, my day started out absolutely chaotic and was anything but what I expected it to be. I planned to go to an anti bullying workshop today. So I dressed in jeans, dropped off my sub plans (along with the kids) to the middle school and then went to the high school where we were leaving from. Scheduled to leave at 8:00, by 8:05 I began to thing something was up when I was the only one waiting near the door and there wasn't a bus outside. So I went to check out the scoop only to find out that...

Drum roll please!!!

The conference is tomorrow!

So let me recap! I've called in a sub for the wrong day. She is there and I am wondering what the heck to do. I checked with the assistant principal and he basically said that I may have to be charged for the day (personal day) and would most likely just go home. But he said to hang out for a few minutes and he would make some calls for me. He said that I wouldn't lose the day and could just go back to the middle school (in my jeans) and begin teaching for the day!

I felt so discombobulated! When I got to my 3rd period class, the sub showed up too. Apparently the principal hadn't spoke to her like I was under the assumption. So I had to tell her and apologize and tell her who to ask for in the office.

All day long, my blood pressure was sky high and my cheeks have been flush. I haven't taken the maximum dose of my anxiety meds in months and usually when I take just half of it, it puts me to sleep. This should say how anxious I was that I took 1 1/2 pills and didn't fall asleep. It just barely relaxed me enough to get through the day teaching.

I came home. I was surprisingly in a good mood. I read for a little bit and dozed for about 45 minutes. I woke up in a good mood, made a yummy dinner with the best whipped potatoes ever! I did the dishes, a load of laundry and just started to think about getting on the computer and writing a blog when....

I found out about the cord!

I don't think I'd want to trade my day for yours! It sounds like it was pretty rough. You made it through, though, good for you! And, with a delicious meal with the best darn whipped potatoes ever!

You should not have to put up with being disrespected in your own home so don't at all feel bad about that situation. It will only get worse if you let it slide. I hope today works out better for you. ::hugs::

As a former teacher (ret.), I can empathize. I also had 3 daughters, so add another empathy. Not to mention hating my ex! I hear you, girl.

Do you have an online calender that may help you get and or stay organized. I have a yahoo mail account and I swear having the online calender with it is a God send. I get email alerts about what's going on, when to pay bills etc and you can also mark things like my kids visitation schedule and do a repeat so that it automatically marks every day that they're here month after month. Since I/you are online often, it's always there to refer to...

Wonder how many teachers have to take anxiety meds??? Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

I really wish there was a hug emoticon on here (like the one on YahooChat).
I am glad things sorta worked out with the confused scheduling. I had a similar thing happen tonight. I thought I had completely forgotten about a meeting I had on Monday. It turns out that it is not until this coming Monday so all is a-ok!
I am sorry about the chord. Teens can be totally frustrating, says he who is in the same shoes when it comes to working with them. You need a nice bath, candles, Enya music and a good book!
