I'm So Happy That It's Friday!

TGIF is soooo cliche! But yet it feels sooo appropriate right now. It's been a long week for me with sleeping issues, work stress, ex stress and dance recitals (which I still have two more days of).

Planning for tonight kept my day busy and kept me cheerful to prepare to all see each other tonight. It already feels like "family" when we're all together. His two kids and my two kids plus us makes a cozy six! The perfect amount of people to sit around a dinner table and talk about their day! The perfect amount of table settings! A perfect half dozen!

During my lunch hour, I went to the grocery store. Then I came home and browned some ground turkey, boiled noodles for goulash and made a big tossed salad to keep in the fridge until dinner. I am sooo not a cook and really do get anxious cooking for other people but he and his family just put me so much at ease. They are so accepting and loving. I'm not afraid of them telling me how awful the food is lol. Sounds funny, but there is a reason I don't cook as often as I used to when I first got married and it has to do with nobody but me eating what I made. I now can appreciate what I have and let go of what I didn't. It was all a learning experience and I'm so thankful that it all led me to this path here. I put asside some noodles and sauce before adding the meat for G's daughter who doesn't eat meat. She just thinks animals are way to cute to eat and G is very supportive of his daughter's beliefs and decisions.

I had to get all this done because as soon as my daughter gets home from school and grabs her bag, it's off we go!! To pick up my son from school and go to another dress rehearsal! I'm still not grumpy or worn out or even annoyed that I have to go to this (like I normally am). My daughter works very hard to balance everything and I'm so proud of her. She dances six hours week, keeps all her grades 90 and above and helps me a lot with her brother (usually without me even asking). She deserves to shine and I want to be the Mom supporting her in the audience and anywhere else I'm needed.

What wonderful dinner plans. It sounded easy and tasty, and it also sounds like everyone enjoys the companys. That is so great.

This is great! Your pride in your daughter can now blossom because you are being allowed to not look at everything so dismally. Hey, not everyone is a great cook. If something comes out wrong...well, hey, I've melted pans! There's a difference between acknowledging a flop (and substituting with a sandwich or just making a meal out of the salad) and the insult of knowing that someone doesn't approve or appreciate what you've done by not even eating your food. Enjoy the goulash! You did just fine! There's more to a meal than just the food, anyway, and you will have a wonderful meal.
