Today my baby girl turned twelve at 4:55 a.m. She woke up full of smiles. I wished her a happy birthday and told her she looked older. She smirked and said "Mooooom!", but honestly she did looker older. She's matured so much over the past year, but I've been able to especially notice it since we moved into our own place in March. I'm so proud of her for being such an intelligent, compassionate, loving, enthusiastic and beautiful "almost teen".
Her big birthday gift hasn't come yet but I really splurged because she never expects much or asks for much. But also because she just deserves it and I am able to (Thank God). I'm getting her an ipod Nano, but lovingly I've been teasing her calling it that "ipod banana" pretending I didn't buy it or even know what it is.
Today I'm doing something really special with her that I originally intended to do later on in life at some point. I changed my mind because I know that she has an auto-biographical scrapbook as a final project for school and also because it will so much be about her father, myself and her...I just said "Today will be the day."
Then she's going to her Dad's and he's having his own family party for her then spending the night with him one more time before he goes away to KY on Friday. I'm having her "friend" party on Saturday.
12 years....
In some ways feels like soooo long ago and in others I think "Wasn't it just yesterday that she...?".
