A Wedding

There is this young woman who owns my heart. She came into my life when she was best friends with my niece and lived next door to her. She had the biggest blue eyes and you would just melt looking at her. I later married her father and though we went through some very difficult teen years, she has become and amazing young woman. Her name is Tami and she is getting married in May. Her fiance is a welcome addition to our family. Dakota liked him immediately and Dakota is a good judge of character. Normally the bride's parents foot the bill. We would not have been able to give Tami the wedding I want her to have. Her future inlaws stepped in and are taking care of all the major expenses. I am picking up what I can for her. We went to the florist a few weekends ago to pick out her flowers. I told her me and her Dad are taking care of this and not to base her decisions on what she thinks we can afford. The florist is a friend of the family so we are getting off fairly easy. It's the darn centerpieces that had me in a tailspin. We could have rented them from the florist at $25 each, but with 18 tables that was rather pricey. I discussed it with Tami and we decided to do it on our own. Each table will have a fishbowl filled with glass gems, a light submersed in the gems and filled with water with a rose floating on top. It seemed pretty simple to us and less costly for us to pick up the supplies. However, no one carries such a large quantity of fishbowls! We want glass bowls and they are not your normal bowl with the narrow opening and the lip. Looking online we found them cheap but the shipping would have been much more than the actual bowls. Thank god for Ebay! Found a petstore on ebay that charges $7.00 shipping with one cent more for each additional item. Total shipping was $7.16!!! They should be here Friday.
I just want Tami to have the fairytale wedding. I know it's an outrageous cost for a one day affair. But she is and always will be my princess.

I hope the pic turns out, it will be similar to this but with one rose floating on top and not as much filler in it.

Our wedding, in retrospect, was entirely too pricey but man it was perfect! I truly wouldn't change a thing, everything was ideal. AND I LOVE that centerpiece idea! Holy cow is that PRETTY!

my wedding was fairly inexpensive, but both families pitched in to help. I think they were all glad hubby was finally marrying me, after 7 years! I really want tami to have it all! She works hard, goes to college and does so much for friends and family. I like the centerpieces too!

Power to you sweetie! I did all the flowers for my daughter's wedding and
it was very nice. My friends pitched in and helped and I love to look at
the pictures. I love the glass bowls with the light inside and compliment
you on your ingenuity.

it is fun thinking of creative ideas! I am not doing too much with the wedding, trying to not step on the inlaws toes. The mother in law is very mind set on what is right/appropriate for a wedding.

Aww... how sweet... and how beautiful... and how wonderful that you can do this affordably!

everything on a budget is my motto! you can do nice things without breaking the bank, as you well know.

That looks great, when my stepdaughter got married my Cath along with 2 sister in laws done all the decorating at tables , even the brides and bridemaids flowers.
Weddings can be very expensive, with 3 daughters of my own i was very lucky that i took out an insurance policy on the advice of the salesman when my eldest was only 12, she got married at 25 nearly got enought to pay for them all.
like any parent you strive to give the best and i;m sure you would be doing the same --congrats to the bride

Just lovely! Blessings and happiness to Tami and her groom — and all of you!

Too bad there's not a "freecycle" type group for wedding/affair stuff. Gowns are resold, so why not centerpieces. If I know more about that sort of thing I'd fire up my entrepreneurial spirit and see what can be done.

actually there are several websites that sell wedding stuff that was used. however, all the people I contacted never responded to me. so what's the point of posting stuff if you don't answer!

Did you check out the Dollar Tree store--they have those bowls--oh well too late now BUT check out their web page in the future--it is really unbelievable what they have.
