I Live with Slobs!

Thats all there is to it. my husband and my son are slobs. They would not dare pick up a piece of trash or wash a dish. So I spent this morning finding my kitchen. Its crazy. Its time for a family meeting. Instead of kicking a piece of trash out of your way, pick it up you big dodo! Instead of putting your coffee cup in the sink, wash it out! How hard is that. Yes, I am a little ticked off right now. There is no reason why I should be the maid. I do the regular cleaning, the cat pans, laundry, etc. So if they pitched in only a small bit I would not be feeling so overwhelmed. And I have not mentioned the numerous piles of hubby's clothes. Hampers don't work, a big basket doesn't work. Keeping them in one pile doesn't work. I don't get it, seriously! My dirty clothes are in a pile in the bedroom behind the door. Then I know where to go when I need to do laundry.
I swear, I am going to get this house in order and God help the person who lets something go.
gripe gripe gripe gripe........
I left on Sunday afternoon to go to moms. When I returned home yesterday afternoon, the bowl of mashed potatoes was still sitting on the counter. And the pan of gravy. nice.
Is there any hope of rehabilatating a slob????

Oh gosh... good luck! I don't know if I've ever had any luck rehabilitating a slob - I've lived with a few! All I can say is old habits die hard. I'm fortunate that J isn't a slob, but there are little things he does, like leaving things to soak in cold, slimy dishwater for a couple days on end (I refuse to put my hand into that pool of grossness), or leaving the dishrag all crumbled in the bottom of the sink instead of hung over the faucet. I've tried to "correct" these little pet peeves... but instead I've just learned to live with them. They could always be worse.

I made rules in the house..and everyone has chores.. Plus if it isn't in the hamper it doesn't get washed...period!! Tough sh*t if you need it or not. They got the hint... I don't do dishes at my house...that's my son's job.

How about this: You go on strike, and your blog buddies come over with picket signs and walk back and forth in front of your house!

Go visit friends with Dakota for 2 weeks this summer. Drive along and visit your blog friends from state to state. Leave mash potatoes on the stove when you leave.... see where they are when you get home.

Another idea--go on 'Wife Swap' (the funniest show on TV) and maybe they will bring in a 'neatnik' who will drive the guys crazy!!!

GO ON STRIKE!!! Other women have and it works BUT that means putting up with (more of) mess until they get the message!!!

I would tell them you fired the maid so they need to hire a new one and pay for it or help out!!!

I really don't think so. I think that it is a genetic thing! I live with some of the biggest slobs in the world. Everything is piled on the kitchen table. When I finally get all the trash picked up and thrown away, they say--my the table looks good! Ditso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
