My Friend Donna
My Friend Donna
I have to tell you about my friend Donna. She is an amazing woman. We met back in 2002. Both of our boys were playing high school football at the time. My husband had already met her as he was the one who usually picked up our son from practice. But one day he was going to be late getting home and I had to pick up our son. I guess hubby had told her about me and she walked over to my car. Donna is almost a complete opposite to me. She is outgoing, boisterous and not afraid to speak her mind. I believe on our first meeting she told me about her hysterectomy. OK, at first I was not sure about this woman. Then I got to know her. She is an amazing person and the most loyal friend I have ever had. There was a time we were trying to set up her younger son with my daughter. We thought they would make a nice couple, but they were better as friends. When warm weather is here we are busy arranging barbecues at each others house. She had worked at a factory and then went back to school and she is now a paramedic. She is smart, funny and just really fun to be around. She can also pick you up when you are down and tell you that you don't need anyone else cuz you have her! A few years ago we were having a very bleak Christmas. I told her we couldn't even get a tree as we wanted what money we had to go towards the kids presents. Two days later her and her husband showed up at our house with a tree! Donna likes to have those adult toy parties and her favorite guest is me. She just loves laughing at me when I get all embarassed. But its a good natured laughing and I laugh at myself too. We went camping with them one time, both our families. I have never had so much fun in my life. And first thing in the morning her hubby had coffee ready for me. We are both coffee-aholics! And our husbands are best buddies too. That makes it really nice. Its not often that you all get along like that. Now that spring is here I look forward to spending time with Donna again. Both of us kind of hibernate in winter. We have never had a fight or disagreement in the 6 years we have known each other. I think because we are both laid back kind of people. We tease each other about being trailer trash. I tell her just cuz I don't live in a trailer doesn't mean I'm not trailer trash. You see we prefer that term than to be thought of as someone always concerned with money and objects. We love our families and we love having fun. Even if its just sitting around drinking coffee and talking. Her and her husband are Aunt Donna and Uncle Del to kota. And they spoil him whenever they see him. Its not easy for me to make friends. And Donna works tirelessly on making me more outspoken. I think I will call her tonight and let her know how much I appreciate her.
