Winter Didn't Happen Here

The rosemary, sage and parsley all survived our really
mild winter. I was surprised to see them flourishing
when I went out to mow the back yard in preparation for
the weed killing person to come and spray. The weeds
are disgustingly healthy too.

When I put my winter clothing away, I realized that I
had not worn a heavy coat even once all winter. We only
used the fireplace a few times. I am not complaining
because I hate cold weather but climate change seems to
be happening faster than anticipated.

My eighty seventh birthday is creeping up and will arrive
on Sunday. Where did the time go? I am grateful for
my good health that permits me to take care of Ted and
enjoy my family. However, in case you haven't realized
it, the inner self stays sixteen no matter how old you
become.

Happy Easter.

Our rainy (hurricane) season ends November 1. But this year we have had torrential rains through December and into spring. Elsewise, the traffic from snowbirds and day-trippers on our island is so bad, it can take you 45 minutes to travel what is normally a 10-minute trip in off-season. I find myself falling asleep at the wheel while crawling forward at a snail's pace with a line of cars that doesn't quit. Everyone should be gone by April 15. I can't wait.

You are so lucky to be warm all winter. I can't tolerate the cold
since I have gotten old and Ted has less tolerance than I do. I know
we keep the house too hot for other people.

We just got a dusting of snow here. I hired a lawn service the other day (when it was warm) too. It keeps vacillating between warm and cold.

I love the warmth if the March wind doesn't carry us away. We have a
big storm shelter and I am hoping we won't need it.

I'm not a climate change denier, but El Nino was responsible for the above average temps this winter. Last one was in 1993 and it's not at all unusual. I just saw a Weather Channel video on fb that makes the same forecast for June-August as it did for the winter. Much above average for where I am and above average where you are. Just a small bit of southeast Texas is supposed to be cooler. We got by for the past three years without putting an air conditioner in the bedroom winder. Looks like I won't be taking a chance on that again this year. I want it ready when I need ti and although I enjoy hot days I need cool at night to sleep well. Enjoy your early spring. We have some greenery popping up but frost is still a definite possibility so I hope it slows down for at least the next few weeks! Happy Solstice!

It is great to see the drab brown go away and the green pop up.
I am with you on air conditioning. It is a necessity here. I remember
vacations fifty years ago when there was no air in our cars and we
couldn't wait to get to a motel with a swimming pool.
