Tornado Prep

We are under heavy tornado alert all day. For us, that means getting important papers and vital information to the cellar under our car port. We have room for about 8 to ten people besides Ted and I and Ellie and the girls. I will have to clean up down there, it is cobwebb city. It is chilly outside but just wait until the warm air from the gulf hits!! I spent two hours cleaning up the back yard yesterday and alas the storm will make it all to do over. We have learned from friends that one's papers with insurance policies etc are the most vital things to try and save. Every year, I say that we will photograph the interior of the house because it is so hard to itemize for insurance companies without a reminder. I took Jose with me yesterday when I visited friends and he got to visit dog friends. He loves to go anywhere but he fears being left behind, particularly with my DIL. We exchange dog sitting so they are aware that they may have an extended stay. Keep your fingers crossed for all of us in tornado alley. May is a dangerous month for us.

We have been very remiss with protecting papers. Thanks for reminding me and I will probably forget again. Our hurricane season hasn't started yet. We came through okay with Irma, going to friends, and coming back to a house with no damage. We took our cats with us. We go, they go. No way we leave them behind or at a shelter. They came from shelters. Too traumatic. But now, of course, just Max. We will adopt another but it's taking time.

Ted is longing for a vacation but says Jose will have to go with us. I keep telling him that it isn't practical because he can't go in restaurants or be left in a hotel room or the car.

There are places along 10th street completely under water. We canceled our service tonight due to the threat and many are gone traveling anyway. Be safe! CALL if you need us. I'll come running.

Glad to hear you didn't have damage after all. If you also took photos of items you meant to get, too, that's a step ahead.

We are still under flood alert but fortunately on a slight hill. I worry about Jeramey because he is close to a creek. I haven't got the pictures yet. Procrastination must be my middle name!

Glad you only got rain.

This has been the wettest spring that Ted and I can ever remember. Flood warnings are in place all over Central and Western oklahoma and schools have been closed for three days.

The storms went north west of us and we just got rain. It is stressful to always be on alert. I am longing for a pretty day today.

Scares the hell out of me just thinking about it happening to someone else. As I said before, I don't know how people do it. Water in the basement is enough stress for me. Nothing to do but wait and hope for the best?

We were nervous all day but nothing happened but lots of rain. I slept like a log because the patter of rain on the roof kept me in la la land.

We escaped and got nothing but heavy rain. My tomato plants are huge and the roses impossibly beautiful. I can't remember ever having a spring this wet.
