I have spent most of the day working on taxes. Categorizing
and trying to get the information to my lawyer who does this
every year. We are friends because he and Bobby were in the
same fraternity and he has been our attorney since he got out
of law school. He does probates and taxes and is not of the
sleazy variety like my ex husband and his friends. I hate
every minute of it. Every year, I swear I will get it together once a month but I never do.
Bobby was out walking today with his cane. I check in on him
several times a day and usually provide dinner for them. I
went and found him a doughnut for post surgery patients to sit
on and one of those bed rests with arms this morning.
We had a tremendously satisfactory rain last night. It was
slow and steady and just what we needed to stop wild fires
and help the farmers. My poor plants just drank it up. I
mulch heavily in the fall and my rosemary is beautiful and so
is the Pampas grass.
I want to see the movie about J. Edgar Hoover. I watched the old African Queen yesterday and I swear the re-mastered
version had some new scenes in it. That was such a great
movie. I had totally forgotten how it ended.
My financial affairs are fairly simple and I don't mind paying taxes, as I think they are fair and I like living in this country and paying my fair share for roads, water, services, etc. Dealing with paper/receipts was a headache and I'm so glad I streamlined the whole process by moving everything online. I tab things into categories each month and get year-end totals. I do check things rigorously, but the process is not the pain it used to be.
You've made me eager to see The African Queen and other Kate Hepburn films again. What a classic!
