Life & Events > I Have Sinned.

I Have Sinned.

I had been religiously avoiding the bathroom scale because
my jeans were getting tight and I just didn't want to know. Denial is a potent adversary.
Last Monday morning I got on the scales and faced up to a
six pound weight gain.

I reviewed my options and decided against a restricted calorie diet because I am always hungry. I settled on
Dr. Atkins and this morning, one week later I am down six
and a half pounds.

As always happens, my SIL called me and wanted to go to
a new Mexican restaurant today at noon. Of course, I wanted
to go but I defy you to find high protein-low carb food at
a this kind of queen of starchiness. I succumbed to
temptation, I did,and ate lots of tortillas and enchiladas.

Having shot myself in the foot so to speak, I will try and
get back in the cottage cheese and hamburger patty mode.
It seems a little silly to be concerned as my 86th birthday is approaching, but I come from a long line of
vain women.

Our Donna lost a lot of weight on the Dr. Atkins diet and
it works best for me. It kills hunger and that is a big
plus. I cheated a little but am very satisfied with my
weight loss and I am going to try to take off ten more
pounds while I am in the zone. Keep your fingers crossed
for me.

Isn't progress wonderful! Winter and comfort food do me in and I am
going to try and not let that happen this year.

Okay I used to know more about it but have forgotten. The basics please. I'll try it. I need to lose just two pounds, but I keep shooting myself in the foot.

Eliminate all carbs from your diet. eat all the meat and cottage cheese
and bacon that you want. You can have diet soda and black coffee with real
whipping cream. Splenda is allowed. I know it sounds crazy but you will
lose that two pounds easily. No sugar at all. You can have cheese cake if you make it with Splenda. Also all the eggs you want. When you go off the diet ease back into carbs slowly.

As diets go, this is probably the easiest to stick with as a lifestyle change.

I don't have Donna's will power but this is a great temporary measure and
maybe I can make it work for me.

I love carbs too. Have you tried Mrs Kitchen's meatless enchiladas?

Keeping them crossed. It's hard to not indulge when you're such a good cook.
