Pre- Thanksgiving.

I have spent the morning cleaning the house even though
our thanksgiving will take place at my sisters. I will be
taking a peach cobbler, pecan pie, apple cake, those good
sour cream-cheese potatoes and a spiral sliced ham and
turkey breast.

We haven't been together since Sara's baby shower and it
will be nice seeing nieces and nephews and their children's
children.

I got the biggest ham and turkey breasts that I saw. We
are a little sick of ham but hopefully others will want it.
I did not buy it at Aldi's even though they have a special
on it because I think it has been frozen and thawed several
times.

I have been savoring the Comer family cookbook that Jon
Adams published several years ago. It is excellent and
I treasure it.

Took your method of using a cake mix and adding stuff to it. Chocolate cake and put chopped bananas in it, topped it with strawberries and whipped cream. Went over very well.

sounds so good! It just isn't worth the fuss of making a scratch cake
any more although I fondly remember the Lady Baltimore cakes we used to
make in Home Ec.

Hope you have a wonderful time there. I'm going to try trout's recipe for herb-cheese scones as well as making at least one cake.

Laura and Jon are wonderful cooks and their recipes are really good. What
kind of cake are you making? I am doing an apple spice cake with cherries
and walnuts in it but I am using a mix for the base.

Aw, thanks. It give me a warm feeling that someone appreciates the cookbook. I worked on it two years. Funny, but a few of my cheap relatives have asked me to email them recipes from the book. I tell them to go buy a copy. LOL

I love that cookbook and refer to it all the time. It has Rosa's down
home recipes as well as some fancy ones. Perfect!!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! My in laws and hubby will have turkey but Skylar and I will have a celebration roast! Yum!

You and Skylar can have dessert to top it all off. By the time it gets
here tomorrow, fruit salad will look good.

Sounds like you are bringing most of the food! Have a great time!

Her brood is a lot more prolific than mine. This is just about a third of
the food.

That's a great cookbook, and I've got it here. My favorite picture in it is the one of Jon's dad with the barbecue.

My favorite picture is the one of Rosa Comer because she looks a lot like
my grandmother. No mixes or short cuts for them and they knew how to
stretch a dollar and still use real cream and butter.
