What's New and What's Not.

My grand daughter was senior class princess and Ted and I went to the homecoming parade to take pictures. He had the camera charged and ready. The sun was hot and there was no breeze and the parade was late. I had failed to tell him that the floats throw candy to the spectators. He was caught up in that and totally missed Ashley as she went by. I got to jump up and down and scream and he missed the moment in pursuit of milk duds and bubble gum. I could not believe that all the adults were so interested in penny candy. Ted has been most interested in the yard this year and so far has watered and kept the yard green. My twins have a black pick up and new driver's licenses and are not diligent or dependable about mowing. It looked pretty bad and we did it ourselves and paid the price. We could hardly get out of bed this morning and for once, I was patient with Jose for anointing each blade of grass and fire plug. It was good just to stand and rest and let him have at it. I think Ted intends to fire the twins but I will call a lawn service if he does. I have a friend who is having a painful surgery the last of the month and I am trying to freeze 4 or 5 dinners for her that she can just microwave and forget. She is alone and on a very tight budget. So far, I have two done.

my post got garbled somehow --too bad we can't edit them. Anyway, I wanted to say I would totally understand grabbing for really terrific chocolates. I'm sorry Ted was too mesmerized with the candy to take photos.

I don't understand about the candy -- bubble gum and such. Now if they were throwing Godiva chocolates, that would missed taking photos. Ed hired a highly recommended lawn and bush guy and he is expensive, but worth it. Also, I have a ficus tree in an urn that is really heavy and he is going to move it for me to a new location.I'm not telling Ed. It hits me in the face every time I leave the house.

I didn't understand it either but perhaps it was the novelty of the kids
giving something back as Dramus suggested. I love a parade and I'll bet your eyes well up too when you see and hear the band.

That is funny. I can just imagine the adults jumping for candy. Probably they're excited because for once the kids are giving them something instead of the other way round.

Milk duds and bubble gum were flying through the air. It was funny, the woman next to me said "Now, I won't have to buy Halloween candy".

I can picture that business with the parade. Mr. YouKnow would also have gotten mesmerized by the need to grab free candy, and he never did think taking pictures of everything is necessary.

Yes, the lure of free candy kept us from getting pictures. If you want to see them, go to Elvina Peak on facebook and you can see my youngest grand daughter in all her glory.

I’d ask for a refund if you had to mow your own mowing. how frustrating!
Take it easy.... you are such a sweet friend to be meal prepping for your friend. Truly sweet

When kids get their own cars, you can kiss responsible behavior goodbye.
This is a cynical view but it has proved true with my grandkids and my
sister's grand children too. I can just see Skylar now with a pink Volkswagon convertible!!
