Early Fall
Money is slithering through my fingers like there is no tomorrow.
Ted got new glasses, two pairs sun glasses and another pair. I have been prepping for winter, I had the holly and the shrubs trimmed and
the carpet shampooed and the fire place cleaned. In a friskier time we could have done it all but the glasses. No one ever tells you that when you are a senior citizen you do not feel like doing hard work and become unable to do it.
The chimney sweep was almost as bad off as we are. He was dirty, beat up looking, had a lot of missing teeth and was unfortunate
enough to be extremely ugly. He had the look of a man condemned to
drudgery. Ted had errands to run and as I chatted with him, I found him to be very pleasant. He will be a good resource in the future because he does a lot of work like painting and lawn work.
I am doing a wee bit of Christmas shopping so it won't overwhelm me and my budget all at once. I like to buy the four grandaughters
jewelry that they can keep.
I am having investment club here in September and October and in November we will have the family reunion here. I may host a birthday party or two also. The Governor's mansion is being repaired and there will be no tours until the repairs are completed.
I think the real reason is that our new Governor has 6 children and is worried about security. I will miss the tours since it was a chance to give school children and tourists a glimpse of our history. It is also easy and fun with the other docents.
