I like to think that Ted and I have no secrets from each other, and that we can tell each other everything, but upon
reflection there are a few things we don't share.
I know how badly he feels about his physical condition and
the constant weakness that has plagued him since he had the
stroke. He has always been so strong. I am grateful that
his impairment has been physical and not cognitive. I notice
a little hesitation in his speech but I certainly don't point
that out.
We were watching an old Western last night and Sam Elliot, one
of my favorites, was a man of few words. He frequently held
up his hand and said, "nuff said" when he was through talking.
I thought what a good tool for marital harmony it would be if
when you disagreed and couldn't come together if you would
simply say, "nuff said" and not argue the point. Politics
and religion would come in that category.
I am pretty bossy and I'll bet he says it to me the next
time we disagree.
