Whatever Happened to Flip Wilson?

The sixties were indeed a wondrous and terrible time. I remember it as the time when I became really aware of the suffering war brought and of the impact of the loss of great leaders.

It was also a time when we still had Elvis and Bonanza was in full color on tv. The funniest man in the world was also going strong. Flip Wilson and his church of what's happening now was one of the most hilarious things that I have ever seen. He was a riot but his time in the spotlight was far too brief. We need his humor now.

Movie attendance seems to be rising now, just as it did during the depression. We need a small escape from the reality of inflation and extreme recession that is our present lot in life.

I am going to make a concerted effort to find some DVDs of those old shows that provoked laughter. Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.

I enjoyed Flip Wison too, esp. when he was in drag. Hilarious. He died 11/25/98 at the age of 64 from complications due to liver cancer.

Flip made lots of money and retired early. He was,
apparently, not enamored of the entertainment life.
My favorite was the medieval tale of the knight
and the damsel.

My favorite was Red Skelton. He gave me the warm fuzzies.

"Let it crawl Lord, let it crawl".

There was also the bit about the bulldog... And, "I came to seize her berry, not to praise it". He was funny... but I don't remember seeing him again after that show he had.. Too bad.
