What Happened?

Are we, in America, having some kind of cultural shift?
We must be if an egotistical buffon like Donald Trump is
leading in the polls.

We seem to be returning to a very unenlightend state.
One of the lesser known candidates, Ben Carson is running
around using inflammatory language about baby killers to
make women feel even guiltier when they have an abortion.
It is like the woman, who is already here matters less
than the cells or the embryo. We fought hard for the
privilege of making a choice. Must we return to the
dark ages when women were kept barefoot and pregnant.

Money, greed and a total lack of compassion seem to be the
order of the day. Can you imagine what a forced march of
Hispanics back to Mexico would be like. I vizualize the
trail of tears all over again. Surely we have learned
from that tragic blunder.

So many Americans are angry and that anger frightens me.
The anger is directed at innocents. How else would you
describe the fury of these unbalanced people who randomly
shoot up a school or kill coleagues in the very act
of doing their job because they feel disrespected as
recently happened in Virginia.

As a nation we have lived under the threat of war or actual war since I was twelve years old. Peace is just
a beautiful dream.

Trump may be manipulating the republican figures and may even win the nomination (over FOX's Roger Ailes' dead body) but the will never win the general election. Hispanics have over 18% of the popular vote.

Trump will fade when the novelty wears off. (I hope).

Let us hope that he fades quickly.

Yes, the cultural shift began when Obama was elected. By some miracle sane people voted for a black man. That brought out all the suppressed bigotry that had not been fashinble. Suddenly it was fashionable again. GW Bush, who encouraged the evangelicals because he needed votes he couldn't get any other way, was responsble for the Tea Party, aided by big money from the Koch brothers. Suddenly the religious right was the only thing that mattered and women were trampled underneath their eager little feet. I recently got an e mail from Ben Carson -- who knows how I got on his list. See my next post: I am posting my reply to him, that I put on his Facebook page, because his e mail response was blocked.

I am beyond apalled. My sister and neices are infatuated with Ben Carson.

It is very disheartening. Have you seen the movie Idocracy? Def worth a watch... Saw a comment the other day that the movie which was intended to be a comedy is turning out to resemble a documentary!

I haven't seen the movie but I want to. I am really upset with the
turn the United States has taken.

Yes, don't you keep thinking of that movie all the time now? I keep reminding myself of the end: that the good man decided to stick around and try to help repair the broken world.
