The Good News

I get my news second hand from my daughter but Laura has a
job bar tending in a roof top bar in a hotel in Manhattan. She is running out of money so we are going to have to help her with an apartment. She has found one in Queens with two room mates for 800 a month her share. She need to get this finalized.

Ted has been sick for a week, but he is better now. Something that doesn't agree with us is blooming. Bugs are biting with great determination. This is the downside to summer but it is still one of my favorite seasons.

I am caring for my dogs in law, Penny and Mandy. I am so partial to little Mandy. My DIL has taken the children and gone to Grapevine, Texas to shop. They are only staying over night. I am armed with Mandy's favorite treats and Penny seems to love them too.

Ted's family reunion is coming up. I dread it with a purple passion. It always deadly hot, lasts for hours and is very boring for me. His brother lives in the country and always
has it because of the fire works. I am going to try and persuade Ted to go about six after it gets a little bit cool.

My grand daughter, Adrienne leaves July 2 for Italy. She is
taking a general education course and will get 6 credit hours. It should be a nice break from math and chemistry.
Calculus III nearly ate her lunch.

I hope your plans for the fourth are more fun than mine.

No plans for the 4th yet. I can hardly think more than a day or two ahead. The thing about being in survival mode (which I'm in now) is that when you squeak by and things are okay, they feel much better than okay. Getting some cash in, wonderful. Paying a bill feels great. And my friend who thought he'd had a small stroke, hadn't.

I am glad things are looking up. Cash is departing us steadily as all the grandchildren have needs, particularly Laura. Sometimes we just have to hang on by our fingernails.

Oh how I hated Calculus!!! And chemistry. Bleck.
Glad Ted is feeling better. I hate the bugs of summer, making it my least favorite season, but I do hope you enjoy!

Adrienne got a B in Calculus III. She loves chemistry so she is hanging in for the chemical engineering degree and is so socially active which makes me proud of her. She is getting awards for leadership. I was afraid she would be a real nerd like my ex husband.

The flowers and fresh veggies make summer worthwhile. I am getting a few ripe tomatoes and the squash is ready to bloom.

P.S. if Laura has a job on a rooftop, it's probably mid-town Manhattan and elegant. Good for her.

Sorry the 4th will be a drudge for you. Does Ted enjoy these outings? if not, I'd seriously considering not going at all. We never make plans for the 4th, or, basically, for any other holiday and sometimes we are on our own unless one of our ambitious friends invites us. And we don't entertain because in the last 4 years, Ed has co-oped the entire house for his guardian paperwork. He failed filing 101.
It is what it is.

Laura found another job in her field. I think the bar would be more lucrative but she plans to go with Loopit Nyc.com. It is a start up and could be something that turns out great. Ted does find those family things fun and he always goes to mine so I am being gracious and going to his this year. Mine are never held outside in the heat, however.

I haver no plans for the 4th so I'm sure I'll have a better time. I always have flashbacks when I read your posts about the City and Queens. Those are not so pleasant. Some people would like to relive parts of their lives, but that part of mine I want nothing to do with!

Yes. I have grown to hate holidays. I love our family reunion on Thanksgiving. However, Christmas is very difficult for me since Bobby died on Christmas eve. The other holidays just mean that ordinary life is disrupted because everything is closed, no mail and no garbage service. You have a great lifestyle now and that is all that matters
if you live almost fully in the present.
