Blog More ... Facebook Less!

I just spent three hours on facebook which seems to be an utter waste of time. I feel that if I don't protest this
horrible administration, it makes me complicit. I have alienated a lot of my extended family and I find in discussions with others that it is not unusual.

I have written our two senators a number of time and they reply with letters indicating that I am too dumb to fully understand the issues. They are climate deniers and members of the Trump cult.

Our state has given the oil industry so many tax breaks that
we are now in horrible fiscal shape. Education has suffered
terribly and the politicians refuse to recognize that new industry will not come to a state with such low standards.

I am getting so discouraged. How about the rest of you?

I always have a tab open to fb when I'm at the computer although I usually only scroll the feed when I first come on. Seems like many people use fb for family communication, but I HAVE ONLY ONE NIECE WHO USES IT REGULARLY. eVERY MAJOR broadcast media is on fb as well local weather, etc. I do post political stuff now and then but it only can serve to make people thiink. The internet really isn't a place for persuasion.

One thing I noticed about Facebook was unless people set up their posts to go to family only, or however that works, their Facebook Friends end up seeing all the family drama where they actually have disowned one another for being for or against Trump. It was along the lines of: "Linda, I always thought you were an idiot, and now you've removed all doubt." Linda wrote: "Well, nuts to (she didn't use those words) you, the only reason I ever even gave you the time of day was because you were married to my dad and that stops now." I wanted to chime in with: 'please, too much information' but didn't want them to realize I was sort of eavesdropping. Stupid Facebook.

We are not that overt about our political differences but we do enjoy sharing family news. It keeps me in contact with the great nieces and nephews and their children.

Oklahoma is kind of a scary state to me just in the lack of forward progress. That said VA has been in the news ALOT (even my town!) for racial issues and tiraids so I guess I can't say too much about OK.

I think the thing that bothers me most is the undercurrent of racism in our state. That and the religious intolerance. I am thoroughly sick of people
telling me to have a blessed day. There is so much public professing of Godliness and private denigrating of those less fortunate.

In my family we try to never, ever talk news or politics with the two who are Trump supporters -- they are intractable (not to mention willfully blind, & often inhumane). Remember that you're not complicit when there was a hacked election. We can protest the existence of the electoral college (on NationalPopularVote.com you can check on your state's bill), and Citizens United.

I protest and I donate but it gets discouraging. I love my extended family but my sister and most of my nieces and nephews are solidly in the Trump camp. Ted's family is evenly divided...3 for and three against. It is the lack of compassion and empathy shown by the trumpsters that get to me and they all consider themselves to be good Christian people. Somehow they are
able to get their minds around his life style and reconcile it. Sick!

I live in a state where the governor is a Republican toady, an unindicted felon, took the 5th 75 times when he was the head of a hospital corporation -- the top executives were jailed, he went free, and ######## in Florida elected him to the governor's office. Every day the revelations concerning the orange porker grow to indicate he is guilty.
A new story today from Bipartisan Report was from Bloomberg News and it says that the voting machines in 39 states were hacked and that the election results are illegitimate. I don't know if this will go anywhere, but when Trump was elected by heart sank, thinking we were stuck with him for a full term. Now I think he will have to resign, but it might take a while. Watching the news encourages me because he is so compromised and it comes out daily. Don't despair.

It is very hard not to get discouraged since he has done so much damage in such a short time. He has literally stomped on our constitution and the checks and balances don't seem to be working as they should. Perhaps the obstruction of justice will bring him down.

Yes, I almost hope Trump fires Mueller, since Rep. Schiff said that Congress would simply re-institute the special counsel, and reappoint Mueller. And firing him would dig Trump's obstruction grave much deeper.
