Glutton for Punishment or Just Being Social?

My SIL has a birthday on Wednesday and David and Ted and I
have been trying to come up with a surprise party for her. The
problem is that both of her daughters have valid reasons not
to be here which will be disappointing for her. It is no
problem to get it together.

I also need some fashion advise. I have a beautiful white
cotton Maxi dress that I want to wear to Adrienne's banquet.
Would that be too pretentious? It is lacy and summery and
I love it and I wouldn't have to wear the dread panty hose
with it, only sandals with two inch heels.

I ruined my feet with high heels in my youth. I know that they look sexy and lengthen your legs, but trust me girls,
you will live to regret it.

It is trying to rain today but I went ahead and watered just
to be safe. My frozen tomatoes are trying to grow and my
flowers look great. One of the Early Girls is blooming.

Yes. wear the dress -- post a photo if you can. I wore heels from teendom into my 50s and my feet started to protest finally. Hey, I was going down subway steps 2 at a time, wearing high heels. Since I was wearing pants all the time, it wasn't a big deal to go to lower shoes. But definitely with the longer styles of the 50s, heels were a must for a small thing like myself. I think one can wear heels now and then for dress-up without ruining one's feet.

I find it too hard to stay upright in high heels. I watch my ultra fashionable grand daughter, Laura, wear five inch heels and I just cringe.
She is majoring in fashion design and part of her course work includes
going to New York and interning with a designer. I am so glad she is
following her dream. Wish I had.

As long as it doesn't look like a wedding dress.

It is prettier than my wedding dresses have ever been. I got it from
Zulily. They have cute clothes but I think they have a worm in that website.
It made my sister and I have a lot of pop ups so I have given it up.

Wear the dress and throw the party. She will still have people celebrating her which is always nice. And I think I've worn heels about 10 times total in my life... Never thought they were worth the pain!

Heels aren't worth the cost. The party is coming together very well and
seems to be almost no trouble, unlike Sara's shower. I may just be more
relaxed with a smaller guest list.

Interesting mix.

The party will be fun and we will certainly surprise my sister in law. She
is a dear friend and deserves a little spoiling.
