I have a suitable Easter outfit if I can squeeze into it after a winter of self indulgence. It is my queen Elizabeth dress...a sleeveless dress with matching coat in a gorgeous pink. The problem is the Governor's boots and bandanas party in May. Last year, I wore a white prairie dress with a peach colored wrap and white boots. It is a bit too recognizable to wear again...or should I?
This year I was thinking about my Governess dress..a long black dress with my Spanish Shawl if I can find it and black boots. I have a lot of silver Native American jewelry to wear with it. The theme of course is Western but you see everything there.
I started naming my clothes when shopping with a friend. She objected to a severe blue dress suitable for teaching because she said it looked like something a governess in a Jane Austin novel would wear. That was the look I was going for, so I bought it. I am easily amused.
Which brings me around to Jane Austin. There is a hilarious book of Pride and Prejudice set in Pakistan with characters named Darsee and Wickalum. It is just so funny and is called Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal. Get it from your local library and it will give you a day of amusement. One of the characters is so like the Eastern Indian surgeon that I had. It talked about him pulling himself up to his full five feet six inches in height and I vizualized my Dr doing the same.
It is now summer in Oklahoma. I have engaged the twins to do weekly lawn mowing. Laura is having snow in Colorado and we are needing the air conditioner. She is not really that far away.
I have long evening style dresses and nowhere to go in them.
