Dog Days

Dog days are almost here but it is always dog days at our
house. Little Jose has gained an amazing amount of weight and can no longer walk in the heat so we have to get up and go at 6:30 a. m. when it is relatively cool. He weighed six and a half pounds when we got him and he has become
a l4 pound chunk of lead. Fortunately, he is losing his appetite and I h ave begun measuring his food. It just sneaked up on us overnight.

My twins have failed me and did not show up this week to mow. The yard was looking disgraceful so I mowed it myself. It was hard because I am allergic to grass and
my nose and my eyes just streamed.

Our Laura is doing well in NYC. She is making enough money to support herself tending bar while looking for a design internship. We have been astonished that her tips aren't as good at the glam rooftop bar as they were in our university town.

Both dogs need shots before the end of July so that is something we need to do.

My hairdo from hell is growing out enough that I am no
longer enslaved by the beauty shop. I can style it
myself.

Watering is a daily chore. Even so, I still will take
hot summer over winter any day.

Adrienne, my brilliant grand daughter is in Italy, studying abroad. She says it is the best thing she has ever done. I am happy for her because she is an engineering student and needs the enrichment. So far, she is in love with the real Italian pasta and Florence.

It is pretty much dullsville around here. Ted and I read and watch movies. We are waiting for Hero to come to our
theater so I can enjoy Sam Elliot. Katherine Ross is a lucky woman.

I didn't mean gender gap, I meant generation gap. Sometimes kids are not inclined to take tips from the older generation.

fyi, Laura did not take advantage of referrals, and there may be a gender gap disinclination at work there. But she should overcome that, particularly with regard to Leila, who is a MAJOR player in the fashion industry, despite that she is not a household word.

I have benedryl in the "dog's cabinet" so I must have given it to somebody, probably the late great Benny. For some reason tho, I was opposed to using it when Donna suggested it for Buster (can't remember why). The vet prescribed a pain med for Benny after he had surgery so I'm really confused on the issue, but if the vet says it I guess it's Ok.

Too bad about the brats. Maybe it's just too hot to mow the lawn. I kind of agree. I got all the wood splitting done as soon as possible and I find myself sitting indoors during the day. Not like me, but what the heck.

I have taken a new interest in the yard. Currently I am planting ground
cover under the pecan tree where the grass won't grow. By the way, did you know that our vet recommends benedryl when your dog is in pain. Rex
just hurt his paw and had a dose.

Your grandchildren are impressive. Good for them for trying the wide open spaces.

I am proud of all of them but am especially close to my granddaughters.
They rock!
