Designer Dogs

Jose is a small dog designed to have a lot of fur and a tiny body. However when they crossed a pomeranian and a chihuahua they neglected to think it through. Both breeds have tiny mouths and teeth and tiny capacity for swallowing so they make choking noises a lot. Jose does it when he gets excited . They have difficulty taking a normal size bite of anything. They can even if they are particularly unfortunate, break their jaw when eating something very hard.

Jose is very overweight since he should weigh about six pounds and currently weighs thirteen. He is a picky eater. However, he is very very intelligent. He is also sweet natured and lets me doctor him if I need to. He quickly learned the things that made him a good companion and I think he probably knows at least a hundred words.

He is probably the last dog we will ever have but if I were going to get another one, I think it would be a Yorkshire terrier. We have had several and they are sweet spunky little dogs. They are also very hardy and don't get sick a lot. When you get a dog that is pure bred you know what characteristics are common to the breed and I don't think cross breeding is a good idea
although we have had many many Heinz fifty sevens who excelled. Jose certainly became a family member and hes
learned to bark when the door bell rings or when he sees something out of the ordinary outside. He also plays with toys which is something no dog of ours has ever done. His favorite is a little brown dog.

Ted and I both love him to pieces. He is cuddley like a cat and my daughter says he has all the best features of
both. We are as thankful to have him as he is for being
rescued.

If there was some benefit to designer dogs I wouldn't be opposed to it. But since it only benefits humans in a very selfish way I wouldn't mind a bit if the process was stopped tomorrow.

It is not a good idea. Jose is prettier than a chihuahua but it magnifies the defects that both breeds are ill too.

Give Jose a hug for me.

Jose only barks when the door bell rings or he sees something outside
and wants to warn us. He is a great cuddler and I love sleeping with
him.

Maybe mixing something with chihuahua helps their personality. Back in the '50s and '60s we thought of chihuahuas as old lady dogs with bad dispositions and a lot of yapping. And then those Beverly Hills movies made them very popular for the bling generation so they could carry them around in their purses. Our neighbors in Las Vegas, where the houses are about 4 feet apart, had two or three of them for several years, and they yapped non-stop. I was trying to figure out how to lure at least one of them into my car, take it 100 miles out in the desert & see if it could find its way home. The Clampetts behind us would yell at them to shut up night and day, which was just about as bad as the yapping. For some reason they finally got rid of them and got a pit bull that we call Cujo, that barks plenty, but less of the time.

It apparently does wonders for their personality and their looks. I just h ate that you get a double dose of their infirmities with this particular mix.

He is a fun and loving dog. He is so furry that sometimes I feel as though I am walking a dust mop.

Chihuahuas are very devoted, I always heard. Jose sounds like a little like a Jack Russell terrier too, how he monitors the house.

He is certainly devoted. He loves to wear clothes as much as any vain
woman and gets feverishly excited about car riding.
