I spent all day Wed. and half of Thursday at the Oklahoma
City V.A. It was hectic because we were all over the huge
hospital, with me pushing Ted in a wheel chair. There
has been a huge change in the level of care. The horrible
primary care physician that Ted had was retired and in her
stead, Ted was assigned a wonderful and interesting Polish
doctor who trained in Warsaw and was excellent. He had a
caring team as well. Ted was given the prescriptions that
he needed and a compression belt. He had jammed his hearing aide in his ear so hard that part of it was wedged
in and had to be removed. He has been set up with a
neurological consult and a cat scan.
It is always interesting to me to listen to the Vets talk
about their war experiences and it certainly brings home
the folly of rushing into a war. We were mostly with the
guys in their sixties. They still resent the fact that
they were not supported or welcomed home from Nam. They
all are in terrible health. Most of them were exposed
to massive amounts of agent orange and it could not be
good for you.
It was so nice to wake up this morning and not have to
jump into my clothes and leave. It is so hot and humid
that I cut my walk a little short. There is not a breath
of air. I watered everything and I am in for the day!
