Ted was scheduled for a medical procedure yesterday at
the University of Oklahoma Medical Center. It is a primo
hospital and the only place that also takes charity patients. It is always interesting there.
We arrived on time after numerous detours. Ted became
restless and upset at the long wait time and wanted to
leave. We got so excited at seeing a medical professional
that I put my book down and when I went back for it, some
one had stolen it. The hospital doesn't seem to have
magazines or reading material.
After being prepped for the scan, we waited another hour
and a half for the doctor to be told that he wanted to
postpone it until today to be absolutely sure Ted's system
was clear of medication. Meanwhile, Ted was shivering in
a hospital gown. The nurse kept bringing what she called
blankets but were in reality thin cotton sheets.
When the Dr. came in, he looked like he had just jumped off his motorcycle. He promised to get the results to
Dr. Puckett by Monday which was our goal. This test will
determine if surgery is an option. If it is, then Ted
should be out of the wheel chair.
We will be better prepared today. I am going to take a
sandwich, a book and some money in a tote bag and leave
my purse at home. We will be at the hospital about six
hours and I am going to make sure my survival pack is
adequate.
Rex will pout again. He raids the waste baskets when he
is upset with us and strews bits of paper everywhere.
