Buyer's Remorse

Our house is twenty years old and starting to need a lot. It is like a money pit has opened up under our feet. We need new carpet in two bedrooms, the trim on the house replaced and a drip ledge and on and on. We decided to replace the trim and dripledge first and is it ever expensive. It has to be squirrel proof. We have someone coming this week to do the trim and I h ave had second thoughts all week but Ted thinks it is the thing to do. It means no vacation in 2009.

I realize things could be a lot worse. We had to have a new central heat and air last year. Ugh! There are a lot of things that we can do ourselves like power wash the decks and seal them and maybe put up a Sunbrella. I long for a screened in porch. The mosquitos and such are bad here.

See you later, after I cheer up.....Jeri

Oh, do I know how you feel! My house is 13 yrs old and just starting to need things... like that major bathroom make-over last year necessitated by a plumbing leak that got in the walls and under the floor. Can I borrow Ted? You can come along!

Houses are expensive and you just accumulate so much stuff. We don't have the energy we used to have either. Ted and I used to do it all ourselves.

Any hardwood floors under those carpets?

Homes can really drain the finances. After the girls were both gone, I sold mine. It was far more house than I needed, and it was always some expense, it seemed.

I know how you feel. In just over a year we have had to replace our stove, dishwasher, fridge and microwave (twice). I still need a new coffeemaker and now the cordless phone is kaput.

Think of the equity you have built up. Sometimes it's harder than others to remain positive about a purchase, but I bet it'll be worth it in the end...
