Book of Cats

The Big New Yorker Book of Cats is a treat for all of us
who have been charmed by our feline friends. We all know
that our cats can be meltingly affectionate or totally
disdainful and some very bright literary minds have written
about them, such as Margaret Atwood, James Thurber, John
Updike and many other stars of that world.

There are wonderful cartoons as well. The best, in my
opinion is a man scolding a cat and telling him to never,
ever. think outside the box.

Since I lost my China Cat in 2009, I have been prevented by
love of my grand daughter from sharing my life with a cat.
She is terribly allergic to cat dander. My extended family
has a weakness for cats. My grandmother had twenty and my
cousin still has fifteen. I am content with one or two.

This is a big book, almost coffee table size and would be
a wonderful gift for the cat lovers we know.

I'm glad you found that book. When I was a kid, my mother had borrowed a book from somewhere about gold mine locations in Colorado or something like that, and misplaced it in the house so she offered us a reward if we could find it. I don't think we did, and I don't know if she ever found it. There have been a few things around here that have disappeared without trace, never to be found even when we sold that house and moved everything to another one. The most memorable was back in the early 1980s: 5 pounds of popcorn that I poured into a Tupperware container and never saw it again.

I know about disappearing objects. It is so frustrating. It seems that
I spend half of my life searching for misplaced objects!

It is worth it for the stories and especially the cartoons. It is full of
real laughter.

Hi, I'm tempted to get the cat book just for us. Sorry your granddaughter is so allergic. She'll miss out on the very special connection one can have with a kitty. We're down to two now and Ed wants to get another because Max, the manx, is not as affectionate toward him as he is with me. I think he's warming up, but not fast enough for Ed. I loved my late kitty, Chewy, very much but caring for three was very time consuming. Here's a laugh, I left my heating pad on yesterday, put it in one of Brunswick's favorite places behind my pillow on the cabinet and he laid down on it all day, hugging it. It's been chilly around here.I think I'll have to get him his own pad.

They would love to each own a heating pad. Cats like it warm and cozy.
Do get the book for yourselves, it is like catnip to cat lovers.
