What's in the Attic?

I guess that I will never know. There are some Christmas
lights, I am told and boxes that have never been unpacked.

When we bought this house in 2009, the storage shed was
packed with old tax returns and old diaries and year books.
It took a while to dispose of them. I unearthed a portrait
of a baby, circa early twentieth century and some needle
point that I kept. I thought they were charming.

The only access to the attic is by ladder and it is floored
and lighted. Ted's brother who is a good carpenter and built
his own lovely home is going to do some work for me after
Christmas and I want him to put one of those pull down ladders
out there. The extension ladder out there now scares me.
I am like a cat..going up is ok, it is the coming down
that is a problem. In the meantime, curious is my middle
name.

I have a zillion projects fomenting. I can't wait to
get started.

I think I'd let Ron go up there... but not me.

Our attic is filled with stuff that will be dealt with by whoever buys this house after we are gone. Assuming that we don't move first, and clean it out ourselves. But I know what is there because we put it there. I keep thinking what a treasure trove is waiting some future unsuspecting home owner.

It is maddening not to know what is up there. One of us has to be able
to function so I am being very careful about what I dare to do instead of
rushing head long into situations that I can't get out of.

The attic in the Brown Palace garage is like that - we have no idea what's up there, aside from what Mr. YouKnow has put there himself. I keep saying we need to inventory it so we don't go buy something we already have.

You have so many treasures in that attic. Your place in Colorado is full
of sentimental treasures.

I had the same issue with up and down. Went to the mountains when I was 20 and climbed the second highest peak in the state. Sat at the top between 2 rocks for 45 minutes. I was much better when I got back to the City--able to stand at the edge of the subway platform which I hadn't been able to do before the trip.

I wasn't as bad until I had both knees replaced after I retired. It was
well worth it but I am not as steady on my feet as I used to be.
