I am back home after a weekend jaunt to Branson, Mo. I went
with my sister and had a wonderful time. We shopped, went to
shows and laughed a lot. The weekend was equal to a dozen
visits to a psychiatrist. Laughter is such good medicine.
A friend looked after Ted and my next door neighbor visited
him every night. It was good for both of us. I have to take
care of some of his medical issues today and clean house
since that went south once I left but I am so grateful to
Carol for coming to look after him. I have to talk to the
physical therapist to day since we need to get him up.
The event that we most enjoyed was the Mel Tillis show. I
had no idea he was such a funny, funny man. He was 81 and
still had the dance moves and the voice and a fantastic band.
He gave away CD's to the audience and gave me one so I saw
him up close and personal. We saw four shows. Kenny Rogers
was stiff and arthritic and he looked as though he had a bad
face lift or one too many. Our second favorite was the James Garret show. He did a tribute to John Denver and only
had two other musicians with him but it was small and intimate and the last show was the Bald Knobbers which was
a little like Hee Haw. It was our least favorite but we
laughed a lot at the ridiculous slap stick.
My sister and I bonded more than we have in ages and it was
really good for us. We shopped at the Russel Stover outlet
store and several other places. I bought a new quartz
watch just because it was pretty and Joan bought me a
scarf. We postponed the family reunion until Thanksgiving.
The world didn't end just because I left and I am much better prepared for what comes next. We should know something about Bobby's cancer by Friday. We hope it is
gone for now because the chemo has been horrible.
I missed all of you and it was great to catch up on your
blogs.
