Home Again

We had a wonderful time with Gary and Laura and Buddy. I don't know where Laura has been hiding Gary, but he is a sweetheart.

The auction was amazing. I needed a truck and it made me furious to see all that furniture going for nothing and not being able to buy it. I had to pass up everything that we weren't able to get in the car and I could hardly wedge Rex in the back seat when we got home. Antique oak went so cheaply and I saw a carved Victorian table that I wanted. Laura was flirting with this old man and I got side tracked and let a set of firetools that I really needed get away from me. It goes so fast you have to be vigilant. I have a teapot collection so the unusual blue and white teapot that I bought, I was intent on. The art deco candlesticks that I bought went to Celeste who has discovered that they are Chekoslovakian and proudly put them on her mantle. I also stopped in La Junta and got her a huge bag of tomatoes. Tomatoes didn't do well in Oklahoma this year. Laura gave me some nice brass sconces and a huge bunch of paperbacks so I won't have to go to t he library for ages.

Ted made a dreadful mistake with Buddy by trying to pretend he was eating Buddy's food. Buddy bears a grudge and left the room every time he saw Ted. As I said, Buddy is a guy in a cat suit.

We stayed in La Junta, Co. last night and when we registered we immediately realized that the owner of the motel was a cat person. She had many, many kittens running around her office and offered us a complimentary kitten but
we didn't want to ride with it all the way home. We did leave her five dollars for cat food since she also feeds a lot of feral cats. We ate dinner there and the citizens of La Junta are the biggest, (not fattest) people I have ever seen. Ted is six feet and he felt vertically challenged. All the men and women we saw were extremely big and tall. A fireman sat at the table next to us and he was about 6'5"
tall and had the broadest shoulders that I have ever seen. I bought Celeste a big bag of fresh tomatoes there since they are her favorite food and the guy that sold them to me was so good looking it took my breath away. (yes, I know I am old but I'm sure not dead yet.)

We enjoyed the trip home more than the fast trip going. Ted bought yet another knife at Boise City. The blade was bone and he isn't satisfied with the handle so he is going to make another one from walnut. He took his prize hunting knife to Colorado in case he had to kill a bear or something.

Rex was awfully glad to see us, even though he likes his hotel. He had to smooch them before he left. They like him too because he gets along with other dogs and they play frisbee with him.

I have a lot of catching up to do so I will be reading blogs tomorrow.

Sure wish Ed and I could have been there. It sounds wonderful. Buddy is a hoot. What a great time.

Do we ever get that old? I still appreciate a handsome man.
