Storm

Preparing for a possible storm here. Tomorrow around noon some snow will be falling but they can’t guess really how much. Possibly 5-8 inches. Then rain on top of that, and then snow again on top of that. So it’s a layer cake of slush.

The grocery store was packed with people, as expected. All I really needed was some more rock salt. I’ve started filling containers with water, in case of frozen pipes, broken water lines, etc. The car is filled with gas, the snow cover will go on the windshield (my garage is so full of boxes ever since I emptied the storage units that I can’t park in there if I wanted to).

I’m cooking some lentils and maybe salmon. There’s plenty of firewood. I guess I’m ready -- I can sit back and read Wonkette and otherwise ignore the news.

And we will be having as 'cold wave' Monday--highs only in the 60s!!

If it makes you feel any better in 1977 on this day we get 'hit' with a light dust of snow--paper had headlines "Snowstorm hits South Florida!!"

Reminds me of when it snowed a bit in Las Vegas. Enjoy your winter weather.

We'll be getting more snow than you and no rain. I'm in the 18-24 range. I know that Sunday afternoon and Monday morning will be dedicated to shoveling. And life goes on in Delaware County NY.

I've often wondered if I were strong enough to handle winters in upstate NY or other parts of New England. Take care of your back with that shoveling.

We were told we would have a terrific storm starting at 2 a.m. but nothing so far but high and howling winds that sound like a woman keening. The storm preparations are all made. I am a masochist because I am still watching the news,

You should have had some mountains put in, then you might not get that howling wind. But maybe I'm wrong, because I recall hearing that howling wind every night in Arizona. Spooky, isn't it?
