I traded up for a new iphone -- but I actually get to keep the old one, which I've paid fully for, now -- and I am not pleased. It's twice as fragile as the old one. To start with, it has a glass back, so I can break it more easily. And now they don't sell little scratch protectors that you stick on; they instead sell you a glass cover for $40. I didn't have money for that, so I will have to consider that for later. I did of course get the insurance.
My old phone had a metal back, and I'd dropped it from time to time without harm, but now I don't feel secure handling this piece of glass.
At the store, after I finally signed everything, my phone number has been switched to the new device, and I've told the salesman I could load the backup of my phone at home, he suddenly tells me I have to pay $49 to take the phone home. (They make you pay the sales tax on the phone up front.) Nice of him to let me know that, after my old phone has already been shut off.
I do need this type of phone because it's reliable, strong, carries the apps that we use for work and keeping in contact. But honestly, I hate the phone companies. And Apple is not so shining in my sight these days.
