I don't think I have a problem with this study, except that I am waiting for a parallel one to study the activity levels of men in the same ages, so we can hear the specific things they did all day, with recommendations that they also wash dishes to keep their health going.

Tell him he can get a colonoscopy if he likes them so much. There seems no reason for you to.

I wonder how cats stand winters outside. I knew someone who owned a couple of cats that he wouldn't let in the house and it made me mad. Hope Jose doesn't get too upset if Nadine is brought in successfully.

I thought it was the river, but I guess that is a blacktop road. How odd, both look impassable.

This daughter is not only good company but seems incredibly thoughtful. I'm happy for you.

Oh, I wish you would write it. Out of all the memoirs I read in my writing group, the only one I recall was by a woman who grew up during the Depression and retold her family life, which was tough but they were happy together. Everything she remembered was so interesting, from the household stuff like washing & stretching curtains, to the details of living around the glass factory and the mine her father worked in. I could go for a book all about southern life, too, the young girls putting buttermilk on freckles and all that.

Sounds like you overdid it for activity, cooking dinner and all that. Because you're tired, here's a short list of questions you might ask the doctor at your appointment. (I try never to go to a doctor now without a plan or crib notes.)

-- Is my exhaustion normal? How long should I expect it to last?

-- How am I doing? Am I okay? (And make sure he answers this one!)

-- Is the infection getting better? Any change to how you’re going to treat it?

-- What am I supposed to do now to get better?

-- Why do I feel so terrible, how soon should I start to feel better?
If he tries to generalize about it, say: GIVE ME A GUIDELINE, how many days?

-- What symptoms should I watch out for? (And tell him how you’ve been feeling last couple of days, any symptoms you noticed.)

-- Is there anything I shouldn’t be eating or drinking?

-- You’re not going to forget to schedule my home treatments like the other doctor did, are you? I was left alone on the holiday with no treatment started, and forced to spend a week traveling daily to the ER!!! — (You might want to say this, because he should be made aware you were put through an unnecessary ordeal.) Take care and get better!

Nah! You’re used to bouncing back like lightning. This time it was your heart, and you’re STILL fighting an infection, which takes up strength. Give it more time, and then some more after that. My sisters all talk about long it really takes for patients to heal after major events. This is not unexpected.

You must be exhausted from all those days. I think that trying to sit long periods in bad chairs is often like being put in stress positions by a torturer.

What is life without seeing some more of Martin's blood? Ah yes

I've wondered how bad it is in hospitals now, if you don't have covid but have to be there for something else serious. Guess you'll be letting us know more.
(Velcro can't hold up to the hard hospital washing the linens have to go through.)

Those lace cookies sound like something I could make. Actually I can't try them myself for a while because of a dental problem which is making me stick to soft everything.

I'm not too far south of Johhnn so I had shrubs and grass suddenly growing again too. Just like last year, when roses bloomed in November. That is a great thought, to get clothes for storm victims. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.

Wow, that's just what one of my sisters had decided to do when she retired. Not Australia, but the U.S.

It is sad that we lose contact with so many people, and whatever the reason we don’t have their full contact information, cell phones and emails definitely work against the search for people — since the internet does not have a directory, and cell phones are unlisted.

A number of the photos you have there (that I can see, anyway) look like they belong in the Reddit section called “Old School Cool.”

Very sorry to hear about your friend. Another NYC editorial lady. Sometimes your reminiscences make me think of Jack Finney stories, which all seemed to be based there.
