Strange Bedfellows
My backporch looks out on a baseball diamond that a private school owns. There seems to be a lot of animal and bird activity going on.
We feed stray cats and birds all winter and it is entertaining to say the least.
One of the black cats and there are five that visit us, wants to move in. She has eyes like gold coins. She hisses at Jose through the glass and he has melt downs but watches that back door like it was a movie for his benefit. I would bring her in but one back door has locked itself and we don't have a key and the other is sealed against the cold. Ted made her a lovely house but none of the cats
will use it. All of them except Nadine are pretty wild.
Last night I looked out and Nadine was curled up on her sweater and cushion and the opossum was eating beneath her. Neither one of them looked alarmed or frightened at the presence of the other. We really should have taken a picture but we just didn't think to do it.
We have doves, cardinals, sparrows and finches at the bird feeder.
The little black birds are the funniest. They travel in troops, never alone, and just act like tiny thieves, swooping down and then running off with a beak full of food.
I wish for a mild winter for all the animals sake. I had Chewey
send litter and a litter box so I can bring Nadine in. She is uncomfortable being carried and I would have to go out the front and carry her into the house with her struggling all the way.
We will get it figured out.
