List of Sites for Real News

The places where you can find better, more accurate, less-U.S.-centric news, these are hard to find. Here's a list for myself, and then a list of progressive and lefty news/comment sites.

ProPublica.org

TheGuardian

AlJazeera English

Wired

ZDNet

C-Net

Gizmodo

Salon

Reuters

Yes, 4 of them are tech news sites. I see a direct connection between many technology journalists and the urge to discover what's true in the world, not to be lied to.

**Soon Glenn Greenwald, formerly of the Guardian and the writer with whom Edward Snowden communicated the info he swiped, will be part of a news network which is temporarily being called New.co
I have reservations about Reuters, but they're generally okay.
====================================================
Some Lefty sites:

MotherJones

FireDogLake

RollingStone

Ted Rall

TruthDig for columnist Robert Scheer, mostly. Also Ann Wright.

Georgie Ann Geyer on Uexpress

Wonkette

Comments:

AlJazeera may not be "US Centric" -- but I sincerely doubt their view of the U.S. is without bias. Their view is, in my opinion, highly suspect. I have been observing "US bashing" since the cold war. I am not impressed. We have major flaws, but we are way ahead of whoever is in second place as a country with freedom and concern for the disadvantaged.

Truth is journalism is hard to get. Thanks.

It really is. You hear so many instances of the main outlets printing false information. And then there's all the stuff they just ignore.

So many sites are geo-targeted now.

Thanks! I've bookmarked this page, because sometimes I run out of things to look at. Isn't that an odd thing to say? With the zillions of things on the Internet? Sometimes I just can't think of something I want to find out about. Then, something will come up around the house, like I need solar panels to run my security lights, and that keeps me going for awhile, but that doesn't keep me apprised of what's happening in the world.
